About William
I didn't set out to build a global business. I simply refused to show up as anything less than my best.
Seventeen years ago I was checking on a jobsite — my guys were working, I had just come from meetings. A client noticed how I was dressed and asked for help. That single conversation changed the direction of my life. Not because I was looking for a new path. But because I had spent years understanding something most people overlook — the way you show up changes everything before you ever open your mouth. What followed that conversation was never chased. It was earned. Over the next seventeen years, that work took me from Charlotte to clients in 14 countries across three continents. I've created looks for awards shows including the Emmys, Grammys, Oscars, and Tony Awards. I've designed jackets for the Black College Football Hall of Fame, the NC A&T Sports Hall of Fame, and NASCAR's Coca-Cola 600 and ROVAL races. I've dressed everyone from small business owners and C-suite executives to DL Hughley, Brad Williams, Eddie Griffin, and Oscar De La Hoya. None of it happened by accident. It happened because of a set of principles I've carried my entire life.
The Foundation
My mother planted the seed. She instilled in me the values that everything else would be built on — standards, integrity, and the understanding that how you carry yourself matters. The United States Navy built on that foundation. My military career taught me to plan, train, execute, adjust, and never place yourself above the mission. Those principles don't leave you when you take off the uniform. They become the way you operate in everything you do. My service and the work I've done since leaving the military earned me induction into the North Carolina Military Veterans Hall of Fame and the Presidential Lifetime Achievement Award signed by President Joe Biden— recognition I'm honored by, but driven by even more.
Then came NASCAR.I became the first full-time African American pit crew member in NASCAR history — and the first to win a championship. I was the only non-white man on earth with my job. I wasn't just competing. I was performing at the highest level in a room that wasn't built for me, under pressure that most people will never experience. In a world measured in tenths of a second, one miscalculation doesn't just cost you the race — it can end it entirely. That same precision, that same respect for detail under pressure, is what I bring to every client and every garment.
What This Means For You:
I've spent my life learning how to show up — in the military, on the track, and in business. More importantly, I've spent seventeen years learning how the people at the top of every room think, what they value, and what they notice before you ever speak. I see where people undermine themselves the moment they walk through a door. My knowledge, experience, and perspective equip me to make sure that never happens to you. Charlotte Magazine named me Best Custom Suit in their Best of the Best awards. Elevate Lifestyle Magazine has named me Best Custom Clothier nine times. But the recognition I value most is the trust my clients place in me — and the doors that open for them after we work together.
How I Work
Most clients come to me because they value their image but prefer to work with someone they trust to guide them. We begin with a conversation — about how you live, how you work, and what you want your clothing to do for you. From there, I take responsibility for the details. This is not a one-time purchase. Most clients build and evolve their wardrobe over time. The process gets easier the better I know you — and the relationship that develops is one most of my clients didn't expect but wouldn't trade.I work by appointment only — in my Charlotte studio, at your home or office, or anywhere in the country. Every consultation is one-on-one. Every piece is handled personally by me.If this sounds like the kind of partnership you've been looking for, I'd be glad to have a conversation.
